A wedding can be anything you want it to be. I'm sure I say this so often in my blogs but it is so true. I love that nowadays each and every one is different. It has it's own flourishes, twists and nuances. From the grandest of cathedrals to the humblest of venues. What matters most is what the couple want. I love when 2 people have their own idea of what they want and they stick to it. The laid back wedding approach is what Vanessa and Jack are all about. Minimum of fuss, good company, great food and epic music. They also knew that their photography was hugely important to them. They got that one spot on - having the incredible
Claudia Rose Carter shoot their day. I have worked with Claudia often and when she asked if I could come and help her out, another pair of eyes so to speak, I rarely say no.I covered bridal prep which I suppose was a break from the norm (normally I will cover the guys if helping another photographer out). In what was even more of a break from the norm, it was just Vanessa and I for a fair while. With her mum in another room of the hotel getting ready and her friends yet to arrive, Vanessa and I were left to it. Now, I love bridal prep. The buzz, the excitement, the energy is often a highlight of the day. This was different however. With just myself and Vanessa in the hotel room, even for only maybe an hour, was pretty special. No distractions. No fuss. It was quite beautiful capturing the moments of Vanessa preparing to say meet her Jack and say their "I do's".[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type="1_2"][et_pb_text admin_label="Text" background_layout="light" text_orientation="left" use_border_color="off" border_color="#ffffff" border_style="solid"] I feel very fortunate I was there and had that time with just the two of us. Vanessa is an absolute sweetheart and although we had never met before, she accepted me and let me in right from the off. Then the girls turned up. Before we knew it, flowers were being prepped, the dress was out and we were ready to rock. All Vanessa and Jack needed was a small registry office affair. They knew what they wanted, to be joined together and to enjoy their day. No fuss. No pomp and ceremony. Just stripped back and personal. It was then we headed to the pub. Around the corner from the Jack's parents house is their local haunt, and the place was taken over. The decor and garden feel to this reception was so beautiful and elegant. They drank, they ate, and they enjoyed themselves. What more would you want from a wedding? The band kicked off, the place started jumping and my work here was done. An epic day. A gorgeous day. Here's Vanessa and Jack's day as I saw it.
