I have always loved woodland weddings. Yes it can cast a green tint on everything (photographer speak for “a pain to edit”) but there is something quite lovely about being married out in nature. I also love creative couples - those who really put themselves into their wedding celebrations. So when two sweet souls who work in theatre got in touch saying that they wanted me to shoot their wedding at Weddings in the Wood near Lyndhurst, I hopped in with both feet.

Rhiannon and Antony had the most amazing vision for their big day. It was all about colour, music, fun and energy. They felt very strongly about their loved ones being a part of it, hence their good pal conducted the ceremony and there were various musical interludes and speeches which was so heartfelt you could burst. This is what weddings should be about. Yes, it should look nice, but really it’s about family and friends and coming together to celebrate the good in life. Rhiannon and Antony understood the assignment.

Now, I can’t go any further without mentioning Rhiannon’s dress. You see, it takes a special kind of person to say “you know what, I love what this artist does, can you please paint my wedding dress for me”. And that’s exactly what Rhiannon did. She asked the amazingly talented Tipperlyhill to paint her dress with florals and colour and oh my word did they pull it off. Stunning!

The partied, they danced, they ate ice-cream, they played ping pong, the listened to the most awesome brass band ever, and they had some global superstars in attendance too (see if you can spot them). Yes, this day at Weddings in the Wood was quite something.

Here’s Rhinannon and Antony’s day at Weddings in the Wood as I saw it.
