Cool Intimate Micro Wedding In Southampton

Let’s face it, planning a wedding is hard enough. To plan a wedding of any sort during a global pandemic is frankly no-ones idea of a good time. I take my hat to off to each and every couple having to postpone their weddings, or change their plans, or in Sarah and Tom’s case say “we’re doing this thing and nothing is going to stop us”. They planned their cool and intimate micro wedding in Southampton with their eyes firmly focused on the most important thing - getting married. Their party would have to wait until next year, but for now, a micro wedding would have to do.

When planning a micro wedding, the hardest thing is working out guest numbers. It’s such a hard thing to have tell loved ones that they can’t come, and to then have your list cut in half when the government cut numbers from 30 to 15 makes it even harder. And yet, despite it all, Sarah and Tom embraced every single minute of their wedding day. Sure, it was smaller than most “normal” weddings, and the ability to party has had to be put on hold until they do it all again next year, but that didn’t stop Sarah and Tom embracing their not so big big day.

I met them both at Southampton’s Old Walls, a place just screaming to be photographed, with the whole area steeped in history, before heading to Westgate Hall for the ceremony. Again, not exactly what you’d call “normal” having guests in masks and what not, but it was no less heartfelt and genuine. After the ceremony we attempted a socially distanced confetti throw (I’m learning as I go through all of this too) before we wandered to The Dancing Man Brewery for some drinks, stopping along the way for some cool portraits of Sarah and Tom looking all in love - and in masks too, just for posterity.

Next we headed for their local - a brewery in Eastleigh just for one or two more snaps before my work was done.

I hope that this shows you that despite Covid, love is not cancelled. That if you put your mind to it, you can still have your day. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to have two weddings. Win!
