This was 2020
Well, that didn’t quite pan out did it? I mean, I’m all for being optimistic, and going into 2020 I was just that - optimistic, but man alive 2020 tested all of us to the limit.
I was considering not doing a round up of my year of weddings, having only shot 13, but then I looked back through them and I am frankly damn proud. Not only am I still in business, but I’ve rolled with every punch thrown my way, I’ve remained committed to each and every one of my couples, and even though it’s been tough I have enjoyed every single wedding I have been lucky enough to shoot.
Not only this, but I have learnt so much. I’ve had to push my skills to the limit - shooting a wedding without restrictions is hard enough, but when you have to stand in a certain place and not move, or when just about every wedding you’ve shot has had to be in the winter (darkness is not a photographers best pal), you have to work really hard, and as a result I’ve come out of it a better photographer for sure.
Even after such a crappy year, I am still in love with shooting weddings. I’ve been excited to shoot them, and I’ve been excited to deliver the finished collections, and I don’t see that changing any time soon.
So here it is, my homage to 2020. A year that went from crazy parties at the beginning, to 2 hour weddings with only 6 guests by the end, and a bit of everything in between.
(disclaimer - some of these weddings were pre-Covid, hence the dancing and, y’know, normality).
