Meg and Jack // Carter & Co // Southsea

Nowadays you can have your wedding pretty much anywhere, which is what Meg and Jack did. They quite literally organised a piss up in a brewery (well, technically a pub, but you get the gist). They chose Carter & Co in Southsea for their wedding celebration and roped in little old me to get some photos, and what an absolute belter of a day it was.

When I say you can get married anywhere, there are still a couple of rules around licensing, so to get past that Meg and Jack had their legal ceremony the day before at a local registry office, and then had their actual wedding at a place that was far more “them”. This meant that they could have the day they truly wanted, and they could have a wedding ceremony that not only encompassed all that they are, but was also have the ceremony led by one of their pals. I find more and more couples are choosing this route and I am ALL for it. It just feels so much more personal.

Another plus point for Carter & Co was how little you actually need to do to the place to make it look awesome, because frankly it already does, but when you get stuck in, and you get the awesome Vanessa Jayne in to add some floral amazingness to it, well the results are nothing short of stunning. It just looked so freaking lush I couldn’t help but take a billion photos of it all.

One thing that Meg and Jack emphasised was that they wanted to keep things as natural and relaxed as possible. They aren’t ones for being all posey and all that jazz and I am totally on board with that. I do say to couples though that I don’t need you to pose - all I need is for you to be able to stand next to your new spouse and pretend like you like each other, and it works every time. I mean, look at how damn cool they look!! And they said they hate having their photo taken! Effortlessly cool. Of course Megs dress from Needle and Thread only added to it.

Anyway, after the photos it was party time, the band kicked off, people danced, I ate lots of food, and everyone had a blast. It was up there with one of my fave weddings ever.

Here’s Meg and Jack’s wedding at Carter & Co as I saw it.
