Lily + Calum

A bride walks to the wedding ceremony at North Hidden Barn

North Hidden Barn, near Hungerford is just that - hidden. I mean, it doesn’t even have a website. But, that’s the charm. Off the beaten track, a place which isn’t “for” weddings and yet is literally perfect for them, this is some place. Lily and Calum chose here for their humanist wedding ceremony, and I was asked to pop along to create some images for them.

Humanist weddings are, I think, the future of weddings. With a humanist ceremony, you can completely create the wedding which fits with who you are as people. Unencumbered by the rigid format of legal ceremonies, you can quite literally freestyle - Lily and Calum for instance chose a hand-fasting as part of theirs, a blessing using ribbons to tie their hands together, symbolic and literal. I’m always thankful to be able to shoot these ceremonies.

It’s amazing! We love them so much. They’re all so good.
Thank you so much. - Lily

I met Lily at the Crab and Boar where after a pretty chilled morning, Lily was picked up by her Dad and whisked to North Hidden Barn in her beloved Mini where she was to meet her Calum. The ceremony was then held in a partially open barn, for which the term rustic doesn’t do it justice.

This whole day just felt like a big garden party - with tonnes of gin and garden games and everyone had an absolute blast for sure, as did I.

Here’s Lily and Calum’s day as I saw it.
