My Approach

Now, I hate to assume anything, but this might be the only time you’ve hired a professional photographer for… well, pretty much anything. I’m also assuming you’ve looked at LOADS of images from a whole heap of photographers (there are quite a few of us out there).

So, I’ve outlined some brief thoughts on how I like to think about my approach to wedding photography. This is not an exhaustive list - it’s just some principles I come back to again and again.

I’m anti-cheese. Like, I hate it. You know the kind – the “hey guys, now pick up the bride and have her feel mega awkward”. Urgh. If that’s you, then I’m not the man for you.

I think this process should be lots of fun. I think that if you’re gonna do anything in life you may as well enjoy it.

Once more with feeling As i'm sure you've guessed by now, I'm not really into polished, avant-garde stuff. For me, it's all about the feeling. It's never about how something looks, it's always about how something makes you feel.

I really dig couples who are in love. Sounds silly, but when that love is just oozing outta them, all that mushy stuff – I just love it. Capturing those little moments. The little glances. Yep, I’m all over that.

I’m not one for posing... and making you feel all stiff and awkward, but I am into intervening a little bit - simply guiding you through it with minimal fuss. When it comes to the couples portraits, it’s a collaboration. I help you through it, and together we create awesomeness of the highest order.

The photos for granny’s mantlepiece. I do recommend we put aside a bit of time for formal family portraits. I don’t think we should spend a lot of time doing this - however, they are actually pretty important, and even if we only grab ones with the immediate family in, it’ll be worth it in the long run.
